Pricing

Q21. Are these applications just a one time fee? or is it monthly?

A. All prices are a one time fee unless otherwise noted as a subscription.

Errors

Q14. What does “Connection Failed” mean?
Q17. What does “903 – Loss of Service” mean?

A. A “Connection Failed” or “903 – loss of Service” error is a problem with the phone or the “Always On” Sprint Network. The best solution so far for this issue is to turn your phone off and back on and be sure you have a good signal – then try the download link again.

Ordering / Delivery

Q1. How are applications delivered to my phone?

A. After your payment has been confirmed by PayPal, you will receive a text message from our website. That message contains a hyperlink to the application download.

If you tap on the link (highlighted in blue), a menu will appear with the choices Browse, Share URL, Save to Contacts, or Cancel. Tap on Browse.

The web browser will open and a message will pop up saying “Untrusted Domain” since this file is not coming directly from Sprint. Tap on “Continue Download” and the application will be downloaded to your phone.

After the download completes, you will see a “Download Complete” message. At that point you can either run the application or simply click “Done” and be returned to the main phone menu.

Q2. Ok, I got it downloaded, now how do I run my new application?

To run your new application, tap on the “Fun” tab from the main menu, tap on “Games/Apps”, scroll to your new application, and tap on it to begin.

Q4. After installing the app, running and exiting, I see a blank screen. What happened?

A. This is normal. After an app installation, you return to the web browser in a blank screen. Simply hit the Home button to exit the browser.

Q6. I’m in Canada, can I download from this site?

A. Yes and No. If you are a Bell Canada, NorthernTel Mobility, or Sasktel customer, no problem – just be sure to select the appropriate SMS Gateway when entering your phone number.
If you’re a TELUS customer, we currently have no way to support your phone – sorry. Some of our members do list some of their apps with downloadable JAR/JAD files available various places including the Instinct-Samsung.com forums – look for the section there titled “3rd party developer apps”. There are also instructions on the Instinct-Samsung.com site for loading the files on your phone – they are complex and can be problematic, thus we can not recommend or support that.

Q7. Can you make the jad and jar files for your applications available?

A. Most of our developers have chosen not to make those files available. There are several reasons: it gives them control over redistribution of applications that is lost when the files get downloaded and redistributed elsewhere; it lets them get accurate counts of downloads, helping them to determine what is most popular and where they should focus their future efforts; it reduces the chances of malicious corruption of our apps.

Q12. What’s an SMS Gateway, and which one do I choose?

A. An SMS gateway is a connection between text messaging on cell phones and the email system used on the Internet. It allows us to send text messages to your phone through email. We currently support sending messages through several SMS gateways:

  • @messaging.sprintpcs.com
  • @txt.bell.ca
  • @txt.bellmobility.ca
  • @sms.sasktel.com
  • @txt.northerntelmobility.com
  • @sms.mycricket.com

The first option “@messaging.sprintpcs.com” is for Sprint US customers, all the other choices are SMS gateways for different Canadian or other US providers.

If you choose the wrong one, then you won’t get the download text message!!

Test/try it sometime – send yourself an email to ##########@YourSMSGateway (where ########## is your 10 digit cell phone number without any dashes or slashes – for example 8175551212@messaging.sprintpcs.com) and see if you don’t get a text message on your phone.

Q13. Will the text message you send me cost money? Does your site charge my phone bill if i get a
download link in a text message?

A. No, not typically. All of our messages are just standard text messages like you send and receive everyday. However, each carrier is different and each plan is different, so please check with your carrier to see if any fees apply for use of their SMS to email gateway.

Carriers

Q18. What carriers do you support?

A. In the U.S. our site is compatible with Instincts from Sprint and Cricket. In Canada, our site works with Bell Canada, Sasktel, and Notherntel Mobility.

Our site does NOT work with phones from the Canadian company TELUS, nor will it work with phones flashed to MetroPCS.

Q19. I flashed my phone to MetroPCS – how can I download from your site?

A. Short answer is you can’t. We don’t support Instincts that have been flashed for use on MetroPCS. We tried several different times to get things to work, but always ran into problems.

Q20. Since you don’t support my carrier (TELUS and MetroPCS), can you send me the JAD/JAR file so I can install it myself?

A. No, sorry. We wrote this site to control and track distribution of our apps. Allowing the JAD/JAR files out into the wild would defeat that purpose.

Applications

Q8. If I purchase an app, are updates free?

A. Generally, YES. But that decision is up to the individual developer who wrote the application. If after reading the application description you are still not sure, please use our Contact Us form to contact that developer directly.

Q5. I purchased this app, but it only stays on my phone until I close it, then I can’t find it again. What happened? Help!

A. To find and run your new application, tap on the “Fun” tab from the main menu, tap on “Games/Apps”, scroll to your new application, and tap on it to begin. If this is an app you plan on using a lot (we hope they all are) it would be easier to add it to your Favorites tab.

Payments

Q23. Do your applications charge to my sprint account?

A. No, we are not affiliated with Sprint in any way. We only process payments through Paypal.

Q3. I paid with an eCheck and did not get my download link. What’s wrong?

A. You will receive a text message with the download link after the eCheck clears. This may take 3-4 business days depending on your bank.

Q9. Why can’t I purchase apps from my phone?

A. The problem is that Paypal uses a different payment gateway to handle payments from “mobile clients” – but, Paypal does not allow payments for the sale of any digital content (music, apps, etc) to be accepted through the Paypal Mobile Payment gateway. We do however offer Paypal’s “Text to Buy” service – you need to enable this on your Paypal account.

Q15. Is there another way to pay besides paypal? like Google Checkout?

A. No, sorry – not at this time. We looked at both choices (among others) before we settled on Paypal.

Q16. I used my credit card through Paypal and you charged me twice – what’s the deal?

A. If you look closely, you will see that you have not been charged twice. Plus, if you check your credit card statement you will only see a single charge for each application purchase. Here’s how it works:

First, Paypal will transfer the purchase amount from your credit card to your Paypal account, which shows up as a “Transfer From Credit Card” with a positive dollar amount (like $1.99) added to your Paypal account.

Then, they send the same amount to the developer you have purchased from, which shows up as a “Payment To” the developer’s paypal account – this amount is shown as a negative dollar amount (like -$1.99) from your Paypal account.

Resends & Refunds

Q10. I don’t like this app, how do I get a refund?

A. Obtaining a refund is easy. You may ask for a refund within 3 days of the initial purchase. To qualify, you should (a) erase the app from your phone, (b) download and install our “Removal Verifier” tool, (c) erase the Removal Verifier tool, and finally (d) contact the developer who wrote the app.

Q11. I – (a) had to get a new phone; (b) had to reset my phone; (c) bricked my phone trying to do something I really shouldn’t be trying; (d) erased an app I paid for and now want it back – so how do I get a new download text message?

A. Instinct-Software.com requires developers to allow at least one (1) resend for a paid app during the first 90 days from date of purchase – after that, you would need to re-purchase the app unless the developer has allowed a wider time frame and/or more resends for the app in question.

Each developer can decide how many days he/she wants to honor resends for paid apps – and for each app, he/she can decide how many resends are allowed.

You can check if you qualify for a resend by visiting http://instinct-software.com/resends.php and enter your phone number and paypal email address, the system will pull a list of apps that qualify for re-download, and you can choose which apps you wish to have resent.

DO NOT CALL List

Q17. How can I stop getting text messages from your site?

A. Text messages from our site are sent out to facilitate downloads of our software. If you are receiving text messages but did not request any of our software, then someone may have mistyped a number, or may be hassling you by entering your number in our system.

We employ throttling techniques to limit any attempts to flood a phone with download text messages, but a few will get through before throttling is invoked.

To stop receiving any text messages from our site, simply reply to the unwanted text message with the word “STOP” in the body. Once added to our DO NOT CALL List, you will not be able to receive any messages from our site even if you initiated a download by making a purchase or asking for a free app download.

Canadian Users

Q22. What about us Canadians, do you sell to us?

NorthenTel Mobility

NorthernTel Mobility users can access all our apps – both free and paid – if you follow one simple rule. When entering your phone number, be sure and use your complete SMS address, i.e. ##########@txt.northerntelmobility.com

TELUS Users

We are aware of the issues caused by TELUS Canada not supporting Java MIDlet downloads direct to your phone in a Java compliant fashion.

Currently, we are unable to support TELUS users. We realize that TELUS is one of the larger telecommunications providers in Canada, it appears though that their policies on this matter are unreasonable. As harsh as this sounds, we suggest you find a better provider.

Some of our members do make some of their apps available on the Instinct-Samsung.com forums in the 3rd Party Developers section that you may be able to download and install – We do not support that ability through this site.

Bell CANADA Users

Bell Canada users can access all our apps – both free and paid – if you follow one simple rule. When entering your phone number, be sure and use your complete SMS address, i.e. ##########@txt.bell.ca or ##########@txt.bellmobility.ca

Sasktel Users

Sasktel Instinct owners can access all our apps – both free and paid – if you follow one simple rule. When entering your phone number, be sure and use your complete SMS address, i.e. ##########@sms.sasktel.com
