myInstinct Bible 1.0
myInstinct Bible is a Bible application written specifically for the Instinct’s touchscreen interface.
Supported Phones: Instinct (m800), Instinct S30 (m810)
A license fee of $5.99 per year? WOW! – I know, that sounds kind of high – but it’s not really. This app was written from the ground up exclusively for the Instinct and it’s great touchscreen interface.
Please note: Effective 9/15/09, I have removed the demo version of this app. Actually, I have already removed it, but existing demo downloads will cease to function at that time.
myInstinct Bible provides you the King James Version and allows you to choose books by Testament in either book order, or alphabetically. Once you choose a book and chapter, the application retrieves the actual text from our server, so you will need access from the phone to the internet to make use of this application.
At various levels in the selection process is a “Random Verse” button to pull a random verse using the selections you have already made.
The license fee for this application is priced on a per year basis – $5.99 USD per year. The application will start notifying you approximately 7-10 days before your subscription expires. Your subscription fee will never go up – once you sign up, your fee will always be what you paid initially. I do reserve the right to raise the license fee for future buyers.
Please note that this fee is used to cover the cost of application development as well as the ongoing costs of the server resources it takes to make the text available via the internet.
Other functions include:
- Options – support for controlling the “scroll speed” – you can choose from Slow, Normal, or Fast
- Check for Updates – use the internet to retrieve the current version number that is available on the server
- Statistics – basic counts for things like time used, number of server lookups, etc
Future Additions include:
- Select By Verse – this is a big change in the underlying code and what I am currently working to complete.
- Data Compression – I’m adding a gZip data compression routine to compress the data stream from the server – this should cut the amount of data by at least 50%, so retrievals should be quicker
- Favorite Verse – a way to “mark” a verse and add it to a list of favorite verses that you can then pull from randomly
- Bookmark – a way to “mark” your current location so you can return at a later time.
- Subscription Notification and Renewal – added functionality to notify you of your subscription period and a way to renew that subscription from within the application.

Hey I just Got this app and it great but I was thinking that a great update would be the ability to move to the next chapter by sliding the screen to the left or to the right like you can in the email setting to move to the next or previous email.

Hey, first I want to tell you that you’ve done an Awesome job on this application. Thanks!
I was wondering, you said that you’d be updating the app with a big handful of neat touches like bookmarks, favorites, and the like. What do you think the ETA is for this? Thanks again for all of your help and hard work!

Is there any chance of you adding the Deuterocanonical books?

I will have to research that and see if I can find the texts. I’ll add this to the list of things to consider – thanks for the suggestion!

Do you forsee NKJV coming anytime soon? I would definetly pay more for that. KJV is ok, but I prefer NKJV and my kids get understand it better.

I will have to check. If it’s a copyrighted work, then probably not – I’m having a real tough time getting any copyright holder to even respond to my inquiries. I’m sure if I were to do a copyrighted work without asking I would hear from them immediately though, lol.

hey, i have a great idea for this app.
i would really like it if i could download this bible into my microSD and pay a good 15 bucks for the bible app itself. then i wouldnt have to check the internet every time i wanted to look up a verse (i do not have unlimited memory browsing)
about to try the trial version anyways, what do you think of the download idea?
consider offering the subscribtion and the dowload versions and im sure youll get a larger market and make the bible available to more users.
btw anyone who hacks the trial version is lame. its a bible, stupid

As nice as that would be – the problem is that access to the microSD card is restricted by Sprint, so I can’t access that storage space without a signed app.

Checked out the demo. It is very nicely done. The scroll was a little jittery at times. A suggestion: I would like to see a Verse Tab similar to how the contacts do. I too would prefer the NIV but will be purchasing the KJV to lock in price. Great job!

I contacted the company that holds that copyright again yesterday – that’s twice now – still no response from them. I will keep trying.

I for one will be willing to help defray the cost needed for the NIV addition, by increasing the price! I really like the NIV version and that is the one my church uses! Thanks
